Job Description

SUMMARY

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist executes sourcing, procurement, and vendor

management activities, categories and projects in areas such as direct & indirect materials,

business services, facility support operations, contract negotiation, and cost savings initiatives.

 

The successful candidate must have experience in procurement, process improvement,

understanding of contractual terms and conditions, and demonstrated ability to read, write and

negotiate contracts. The successful candidate will focus on traditional sourcing models, including

category analysis, short-term/long-term category planning, consolidation, supplier scorecards

and vendor management.

 

An understanding of sourcing process includes multiple phases from building a category

strategy, identifying specific sourcing opportunities, contract negotiations, purchase order

issuance, and implementation. The process involves steps such as price/cost analysis, "should

cost" models, and sourcing best practices. Collaboratively works with supply chain leaders to

ensure that sourcing strategies are aligned with business plans, and the successful candidate will

be accountable for their execution and the delivery of significant value contribution to the

company.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may

be assigned.

  1. Ability to review and analyze large amounts of data to determine cost savings opportunities

through good procurement methodologies

  1. Improve processes in the areas of strategic sourcing, cost modeling, and supplier

development

  1. Assist to plan and execute a procurement plan in that aligns with annual financial goals
  2. Lead contract negotiation, sourcing, supplier evaluation and selection.
  3. Locate, analyze, develop and maintain a supplier base to meet current and future needs
  4. Understand and monitor key spending trends, cost drivers, market factors, geographic

considerations, and strategic importance of critical commodities in order to implement

appropriate sourcing strategies

  1. Manage annual supplier value analysis/cost reduction opportunities with the supplier base
  2. Manage and support savings tracking processes und participates in special projects as needed
  3. Ability to travel 10-15%, including internationally.

 

TALENTS and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ years successful procurement experience in a manufacturing organization with MRP
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cost-effective procurement through supplier collaboration
  • Practical knowledge of purchasing and supply chain strategies
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of operations, scheduling and purchasing procedures, MRP systems and their

processes, and supply chain best practices.

  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills

 

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and REGISTRATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in business, economics, or supply-chain preferred. Equivalent

experience and a combination of acceptable education/certifications may be accepted in lieu

of degree.

  • APICS or I.S.M. certification highly desired

Work is normally performed in both a typical interior/office. The candidate should be able to

perform the job tasks with or without reasonable accommodations:
