  • Job Description

     

    Summary

     

    The role is responsible for receiving raw material in to the Ipswich facility and to distribute orders to our customers so it is very focussed on material management. Tasks to be expected are processing goods inwards (receiving) and distributing to the production and service areas, material kitting and issuing, processing and maintaining inventory records and packaging and dispatch. An element of mechanical/electrical assembly and testing are within this role, this comprises of a range of Genevac accessories and related components from start to finish ensuring that a high level of quality is reached.

    With international shipping this means there is a need to have an understanding of Incoterms 2010®. A proactive role approach is needed within the department working closely with the Production Team and Materials Control Team to manage, plan and prioritize work load.

     

    Key tasks

     

    • Receiving material in to the facility and distribution to the appropriate points of use.
    • Picking, packing & dispatching customer orders.
    • Maintain good inventory accuracy by having a meticulous level of detail.
    • Working in a FIFO manner to ensure all jobs are processed sequentially.
    • Managing courier deliveries and collections and tracking accordingly
    • Interface with worldwide customs, freight forwarders and clearing agents
    • Maintaining accurate stock holding and performing inventory counts where applicable
    • Identifying, investigating and processing inventory discrepancies
    • Loading and unloading deliveries manually and fork truck operation
    • Ensuring timely despatch of sales orders to the daily sales order backlog
    • Updating data on all spread sheets required for exports and import compliance
    • Processing non-conforming stock on receipt and through reject procedures
    • Highlight improvement opportunities.
    • Help to ensure all processes are documented to
    • Various mechanical assembling of accessorises and small pick and pack assemblies for all Genevac product lines
    • Inspection of components using gauges and tools
    • Record keeping of products assembled and/or tested
    • Working in any production department on inspection and small assembly where workload deems necessary
    • Ad Hoc administration support for production departments.These tasks are by no means exhaustive and all aspects of working within a busy receiving and dispatch environment are required to be carried out.NotesThe nature of the business is such that the workload is not linear on a day to day basis and so overtime requirements should be expected to ensure we meet the expectations of customers. Also, as deliveries and collections happen anytime during the working day, the department needs to be manned at all times and so the need for staggered breaks is expected within the team.

    Ideal Experience:

     

    Knowledge of working within a receiving and/or distribution environment.

    Manual Handling Operations and EHS expectations when moving a variety of weights.

    Kinetic Lifting Methods

    Experience in mechanical assembly within a light engineering environment

     

     

    Ideal Qualifications:

    (These are not essential as relevant experience will be taken into account)

     

    City and Guilds in basic mechanical application

    NVQ in mechanical/electrical principles

    NVQ Level

    Good education

    Full clean driving licence

    Fork lift licence

     

    General

    The nature of the business is such that the material being handled ranges in weight from a few grams to several hundred kilograms. As such, appropriate PPE will need to be worn and at all times, safety shoes. Additionally, as everyone has their own threshold as to what they can sensibly lift, a level of self-regulation is needed to avoid injuries so a detailed level of manual handling awareness will be required. This will happen through training and self regulation. The wider team will, of course, help to ensure improvements are implemented and add appropriate processes to minimise risk.
