  • Job Description

    The role is predominantly focused on tactical procurement, material scheduling with some input in to supporting strategic initiatives. Your key responsibilities are material scheduling, material production planning, material procurement, monitoring the materials and products to ensure timely delivery of materials and services to enable customer orders to be fulfilled on time, whilst monitoring costs and minimizing stock holding. Scheduling and releasing Work Orders (WO) for “make” items. Implementing all processes to agreed standards and targets and support continuous improvement initiatives and identify areas of improvement.  Coordinate activities with Engineering, Sales, Warehouse, and Manufacturing personnel to keep all departments informed of potential problems and opportunities.  Within this there is a need to control and monitor any subcontract assembly processes and services to meet the demands of production, service and R&D.

    You will be scheduling and forecasting the right volumes of materials, monitor all POs, manage deliveries, and highlight any issues impacting expected delivery dates and / or changes to current standards. You should understand and manage risks to minimize impact on production schedule. You will provide management reports and measure performance and change using ‘Key Performance Indicators’ (KPI’s) to highlight how the supply chain team and suppliers are performing.


    You will work closely with the production team and Sales Administration to manage internal communication, ensuring that the customer is given a high level of focus. You should understand how to manage the MPS to forecast future demand and create the planning schedule, understand how MRP helps and limits us and most importantly, how Kanban (KB) is utilized to pull material to ensure that target shipment dates and pull forwards are met.


    Key tasks

    • Scheduling, planning, procuring and monitoring the materials.
    • Utilize any Material Requirements Planning system (MRP) and ensure that data is accurate and up to date and resolve any issues as required.
    • Identify and coordinate advance notice, input and resolution of material shortages.
    • Liaise closely with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of goods and services to meet production, R&D and other company requirements.
    • Analyzing data to determine opportunities to improve supply chain process.
    • Responsible for work orders being raised on a timely basis;
    • Provide an update on progress on incoming goods & services to the relevant departments.
    • Kanban & 2-bin management - Manage supply of floor stock items and any KB controlled parts.
    • Take follow up actions in relation to material shortages that affect production.
    • Purchasing of indirect material.
    • Monitoring inventory levels against agreed target levels.
    • Developing and maintaining good relationships with suppliers and ensure demand for materials is met and deliveries made on time.
    • Conduct MRP runs, as appropriate, and action results and create purchase and works orders
    • Work with Finance to resolve and invoice queries
    • Assist in maintaining contract pricing by highlighting any deviations encountered.
    • Manage the rejects/non-conformances process and highlight issues to the appropriate teams as you close out RJNs.


    • Expedite the flow of materials and processes within internal departments, this will mean a high level of personal involvement.
    • Other activities to help in the smooth running of the supply chain team.


    Essential Skills:


    Must be from manufacturing background.

    Knowledge and experience of using MRP.

    Advanced Excel skills.

    Ideal Experience:

    • Planning, scheduling production materials
    • Good understanding of supply chain processes
    • Procurement of direct materials
    • Knowledge of lean techniques may be advantageous
